Fog and long distance lights combined

Monday, July 14th, 2008

I’ve mentioned before that I’m quite a fan of lighting, weather in house, ourside or speaking automotively. I enjoy the various types of lighting and I’ve found a light that can produce the penetrating wide spread needed for fog, but also the lighthouse type beam needed for the long road.

This light is not pretty. I’ve seen it in person as well and if you want the looks, look elsewhere. It isn’t particularly ugly, but the features it offers obviuosly require a compromise. The rectangular form doesn’t really appeal to me. Somehow I’m more at ease with round lights, and I find the dual shade of the covers so near each other quite ugly.

Despite what I have said, if you are looking for something useful which will help you in any situation, come rain, snow, for or simply good weather, these lights are for you. The lighting quality of the PIAA 940 makes up for any problems with looks, switching from fog to beam is especially rewarding using the in-cab switch.

Light up the world with LED tail lights

LED back lightsI’ve already mentioned how much I love lighting and playing around with different options, and LED lights are always a good way to go with vehicles, so I thought I’d show you some quality stuff you could easily install yourself.

The Hella LED Tail Lights are a great solution for your lighting needs because they look awesome, and according to the manufacturer they light up faster, which obviously makes the open road a safer place. To be frank I didn’t really think my older lights took to long to light up, although this is obviously a tough one to check.

I simply like the look of LED lights. They are very bright and tend to give a sort of better defined light, they don’t disperse as easily as normal lights, which is especially good in foggy conditions. The Hella ones are quite well arranged too in a sort of tower, giving the impression of “meaning business”

Each light contains 24 LED bulbs and you also get a third horizontal brake light in the pack, making it quite the deal. If you want people to take your breaking seriously and also look cool, take a look at these lights, people on the forums and customers seem to like them a lot!

Lighting is everything!

KCLite light barAt home I am very much the lighting maniac, proper placement of lighting equipment and good quality lighting is a must for me to create ambience, atmosphere and mood. It helps put me in the frame of mind I am most productive at.

Just as much as my lighting solutions shape my home, custom light-jobs can raise the quality of your truck from stock made to mean machine. Today I want to show you not the lights, but the accessory that makes i all happen, the light bar.

Two things contribute the most to your car exterior from the front, the grille and the light bar. Both can become signatures, trademarks if you will, that give your car that custom, quality and performance look. Light bars, like the KC HiLites Bar add a touch of flare to your car, they say “hey, I mean business”.

There are five mount points available, and if you are using KC lights, you won’t need any drilling or other type of messing with the hardware. It fits nice and easy on your truck, and doubles as a light bumper, although I don’t think you should try this one out, your lights will not be in good shape afterwards.

Good looks, a chrome or matte black finish and usefulness go hand in hand with the KC bar, and it comes with a very long, albeit very weird warranty, lasting 23 years. I wonder how they came up with that number?

Let the whole world know you’re breaking

Extang Tonneau CoverAs auto-accessories go, you usually end up dishing out a pretty large some for almost anything you buy. I just found a cool product which looks good, functions well, adds to road safety and… did I mention that it looks cool?

The
Putco Pure LED Tailgate Light Bar
(phew, long name) is basically a strand of LED lights available in red and white. I always loved LED because they emit a sharper, but less eye-straining light, so they manage to combine good looks and safety too.

I actually love tinkering with electronics, but sadly this doesn’t mean I’m good at it (which is a bit of an understatement) so for those of you like me the Picto Pure Led light is truly a cinch to install. If you have an outlet for hitch wiring the task will be a matter of seconds, but the manual and the color coded wiring won’t leave you dumbfounded anyway.

The equation gets better when you realize you can buy more than one strand to join them end to end, or even choose different colors for two rows. You can combine this with the three sizes available for endless combinations. My favorite is when two red strands are joined with a small gap between them. Whichever way you choose, it will be a fine addition to your truck’s behind which will surely get the heads turning.
