Finally, some Juice with Attitude

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Edge Products changed the whole diesel performance market with the release of the
Edge Juice
about 3-4 years ago. Before the Juice, Diesel owners were limited to the Superchips Microtuner, a programmer that was introduced during the Civil War(in all fairness, the Microtuner is still a good programmer). The Edge, when combined with the Attitude Monitor is still probably the best combination for Diesel owners.

The Juice itself is relatively easy to install. I mounted mine on my drivers side battery. The Attitude Monitor is where some of the trickiness comes in, mainly with the EGT Probe installation. However, if you offer free beer to a couple of buddies you can whip out the rest of the Attitude Monitor installation in just a few hours. The Installation is well worth the effort. Sure, there are faster ways of adding mass power and performance to your vehicle but nothing monitors your vehicles safety like the Juice and Attitude combination.

If you throw Edge a few more dollars they will even give you an unlock code to release even more performance with the “hot” mode. The Hot mode does not really give you more power, but it does keep the maximum power consistent through the RPM band. I would only recommend the Hot mode for racing.

If you are wondering about which chip to get for your Diesel pickup, I highly recommend the Juice. The Juice is great for Towing, Racing, Cruising and even Fuel Economy.

High performance tuning in your palm

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Hypertech HyperPACI do love to weak and tune everything I have (not just cars), but I have to confess, I’m a total layman when it comes to tuning. Sure, I know what EGT is, and I know where the pistons are, and why cool air helps your performance and so on, but I have no clue if you go really deep down, especially in the electronics area.

Thankfully, awesome people have developed stuff like the
Hypertech HyperPAC
which enables everyone to tune their car to perfections, even with some basic understanding. Using the quite large LCD display you can do anything from adjusting your RPM limiter, your shift points, and modify the odometer for non custom tires.

Another cool feature I have a lot of fun with is all the clocking options built in. You can time and save significant times, like the 60ft, 330ft, 1/8th mile, 1000ft and 1/4th mile runs. This is really cool when you’re just having fun, or if you’re tuning and want to see how you’ve done. Shaving a tenth of a second off here, a tenth of a second there, then back to tuning, my idea of a Saturday evening!

There are loads of technical features I don’t even want to get started on, engine monitors, diagnostics, view switching and so on, it’s all there, take a look at the features section on the product page. With this performance tuning accessory you will become experienced, have fun, and make your cab look cool with the 3″x4 ” screen sitting in the middle.
